Welcome to Dr. Minh Nguyen to the UCGH Surgical Team

Union County General Hospital would like to welcome Dr. Minh Nguyen to the community. He will be joining our team as a part time surgeon to assist with our patients’ needs and will be available twice a month for two days at a time performing surgeries.

A 1998 graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, Dr. Nguyen then went on to attend medical school at State University of NY – HSC in Brooklyn, New York. He also completed his general surgery residency in Brooklyn in 2003 where he was distinguished as the Best Teaching Resident and Most Outstanding Resident.

Almost two decades later, Dr. Nguyen is still dedicated to excellence in the surgical field. He spent several years in General Surgery at Group Practice in Plano, Texas after completing his residency, before spending a year as Chief of Surgery for Centennial Medical Center in Frisco. Since 2005, Dr. Nguyen has been at his solo practice in Centennial Medical Center in Frisco as a General Surgeon.

Dr. Nguyen brings over 30 years of research experience and certifications to Union County General Hospital, including expertise in Bariatrics, Pediatric Surgery, and Organometallics, as well as a Laparoscopic Gastric Banding Certification and DaVinci Robot Advanced Certification.

Originally born in Vietnam, Dr. Nguyen moved to the United States with his family in the 1970s where he was able to travel and see much of the world, including living in Africa for several years as a young man. However, his home base has always been California where he attended school before moving to New York City to complete medical school.

Dr. Nguyen shares that his true passion is surgery and is very excited to do the work he loves for the Clayton community. He looks forward to serving UCGH and has already made a strong connection with locals, saying that he sees the community as a “unique group of survivors like [himself].” Please join us in welcoming Dr. Nguyen to our community and hospital.
