Brian Roland: Union County General Hospital’s New CEO

Union County General Hospital is pleased to introduce Brian Roland, our new Chief Executive Officer. Roland comes to Clayton, New Mexico from Texas with over 20 years of healthcare administration experience in CFO and CEO roles at rural healthcare systems.

With an undergraduate degree in accounting and master’s in business, Roland initially worked for the IRS before taking a position with a local nursing home and discovering his passion for rural healthcare.

Aware of the unique difficulties of rural areas, his priority is to continue to ensure accessible, attentive care to the region’s residents through UCGH’s services.

“I look forward to continuing to improve UCGH’s quality of care and patient satisfaction and will work to make sure funding from the Rural Health Transformation Program is used in ways that bring the most value to the hospital and community,” Roland shares.

He also states that there’s no greater reward than seeing UCGH and his staff succeed. “I always want to leave a place better than I found it. It’s important to me to make sure people know I am approachable and here for them.”

Personally, Roland is an outdoorsman who enjoys spending time in the mountains with his wife of over 30 years, Traci, and their dog, Bella. Their daughter, Ashley, is a licensed social worker at Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

After being raised in Wisconsin and spending most of his adult life in Texas, Roland shares that New Mexico is a great fit and change of pace for them, not only because of the proximity to the mountains, but also because of the legacy and memory of his late father who was involved in mission work in Counselor, New Mexico.

Already working diligently with hospital staff and community members, Roland is eager to continue UCGH’s standard of exceptional care and services. Join UCGH in welcoming him to our community.
