UCGH Celebrates Russell Lees New Appointment to NM State Physical Therapy Advisory Board
Union County General Hospital celebrates our Director of Rehabilitation, Russell Lees, on his recent appointment to the New Mexico State Physical Therapy Advisory Board. Lees was selected as the New Mexico delegate for the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) and recently attended the national meeting as a representative for the state of New Mexico and Union County General Hospital.
The FSBPT is responsible for regulating the nation’s physical therapy practices. Their website states that the mission of the federation is “to protect the public by providing service and leadership that promote safe and competent physical therapy practice.” The FSBPT is involved in therapists’ education and examinations, as well as state’s rights and responsibilities to promote public health and wellbeing. As a state delegate for the FSBPT, Lees is representing UCGH as a strong advocate and voice for New Mexico’s rehab healthcare systems and beyond.
Lees is stepping into this position for the FSBPT after over 20 years of service and experience in physical therapy. He is a 1999 graduate of Hardin Simmons University where he received his master’s degree in physical therapy and has extensive training in sports medicine. Currently, he is the Director of Rehabilitation at UCGH and has worked with patients in all areas, including inpatient, home health, orthopedics, and beyond.
Married to his wife, Jana, for over ten years, they have two children. Passionate about New Mexico after being born and raised here, Lees has enjoyed being back in the area with family and is grateful and honored to serve the Union County community and state of New Mexico in his new role with the FSBPT.
